Middle East Conflicts: Should we be there?

 

The Middle East has been a region of interest for quite a long time now. Much of the oil America consumes comes from countries within the Middle East. However, the US keeps a presence there for much more important reasons than just oil. The drastic increase in Islamic extremism and terrorism in the last two decades has been the driving force of our military presence. Right now, we are cutting back our military overseas just as a new extreme Islamic group called ISIS is gaining momentum. Many people believe that is exactly what we should be doing, but are we putting ourselves in a much worse situation in the long run by using minimal military force such as drone strikes? Should we increase our presence by putting boots on the ground to try and put an end to some of these extreme groups? This is exactly what I plan to research and provide information about.
