“An explosion in global music consumption supported by multiple platforms.” Facts & Stats –

IFPI – Representing the recording industry worldwide. International Federation of the

Phonographic Industry, n.d. Web. 05 Mar. 2017. <http://www.ifpi.org/facts-and-stats.php>.

This source is reliable because it is published by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, an non-profit organization that represents the interests of the recording industry worldwide. This organization was founded in 1933 and has been functioning ever since, thus showing how successful they have been. This source is a collection of charts and facts regarding the changes of music consumption over time due to the digitisation of music. It also discusses the revenues made in the music industry and breaks down which areas, such as touring, album sales, etc. make which portion of the money. I chose this article because it clearly laid out information about the changes going on in the music industry. These charts provided reliable and unbiased evidence regarding the effects of digitized and streamed music.

“How Streaming is Changing the Music Industry | American University | Graduate Program Blogs.” AU.Blogs. n.p., 1 Feb. 2016. Web. 05 Mar. 2017. <http://au.blogs.american.edu/audio-technology/how-streaming-is-changing-the-music-industry>.

This article is reliable because it is published by the American University in Washington DC. This school is highly regarded for its College of Business. Although it is posted as a blog post it is written factually and with no bias. Having a comments section allows for fact checking and no one pointed out any flaws that they saw in the article. The writer discusses how streaming has impacted the music industry and if those effects have been positive or negative. The costs and benefits of streaming are compared as well as the value of art changing because of steaming. The author continues on to talk about the listening experience and if that is still the same while using streaming. I chose this article because the author doesn’t explicitly choose a side on the topic and they weigh both sides. It was convenient to have information regarding both sides presented to me while using fact and cited sources.

An annotated bibliography gives specific information about each source that an author used. As a researcher, the goal is to become an expert on a topic. You’ll want to have the ability to explain content of your sources, assess usefulness, and share any information with others who are less familiar with them.

Annotated Bibliographies are more useful because you publish the source of your info as well as a description and verification of reliability.
