Being a Music Industry major I find myself discussing the industry every day. One of the topics we debate frequently is streaming. This is because within the last 5 years streaming has become the number one way people listen to their music (Article by ‘Time’). The debate boils down to the treating of the artists. With streaming costs so low and labels hoarding all the money it sometimes appears that artists are not being properly paid which in turn would ruin the business entirely.
I plan to discover the facts about this subject and see which artists are speaking the truth. I constantly hear about artists making statements for both sides regarding the issue of streaming but some of them are just making it up as they go (Artists Against Streaming). The fact of the matter is that streaming has had extreme influences on the industry and I plan to discover if they are positive or negative.
